The Fiat India press release prior to the launch of the Fiat Grande Punto 1.3 Emotion Pack 90HP Diesel
Multijet carried the tagline ‘Fiat Brings Power Back Into Fashion’, and
that is exactly what they have achieved with this gem of a car which
has made waves with both motor enthusiasts and the average consumers.
The Grande Punto 90HP, which is inarguably the most powerful diesel
hatchback in the Indian market today, comes equipped with the same
hugely popular multijet engine which powered the earlier Swift
but with the addition of Fiat’s patented Variable Geometry Turbocharger
technology which gives it 93 PS of top power with 209Nm of maximum
torque compared to the 76 PS at 197Nm of its lesser siblings in the
Punto stable. The car which is one of the most technologically advanced
vehicles ever to be launched by Fiat India also boasts of an unbeaten
mileage of 20Km/l, extremely low emissions and excellent handling and
ride.
The Grande Punto 90HP which comes with an ex showroom price of Rs
6,84,763 is fully fitted with high end interior and exterior features.
Interiors
The Fiat Grande Punto 90HP comes with plush interiors. It has a dual
tone dashboard with fabric has upholstery. The car also offers leather
finished seats and also a leather wrapped steering wheel and gear knob,
height adjustable driver’s seat, convenient and comfortable pedal
position, power windows (both Front & Rear Door), and steering wheel
with mounted controls for the music system. The instrument cluster is
equipped with a tachometer along with a digital odometer and a ‘distance
to empty’ fuel indicator which is a feature seldom found in hatchbacks.
The car has an internal display for ambient temperature and features a
cigarette lighter as an added accessory.

Safety Features
The safety features include multiple SRS airbags in the front and
sides-rear and front along with ABS (antilock brake system) and
EBD(Electronic Brake Distribution) which ensures that your vehicle will
never skid during braking. It is also equipped with power door locks and
child locks. Fiat’s patented Fire Control System ensures that the fuel

The engine which displaces 1248cc generates 93 PS of maximum power @
4000rpm and a maximum torque of 209Nm @ 2000rpm. It incorporates a DOHC
valve mechanism. The vehicle accelerates from 0-100 in 11.9s and has a
reported top speed of 175km/h. It has a 5 speed manual transmission and
also gives a mileage of 14km/l in city driving conditions and up to
20km/l on the highway.

Exteriors
Fiat Punto has been designed at the famed design
studios of Fiat Italy and has dynamic and stylish exteriors. It includes
an aggressive front grille and has a low slung, compact body with
arches which gives it a solid muscular look. The car also has sporty 15″
alloy wheels.

litres.

The Grande Punto 90HP is expected to fill the void left by the
replacement of two of its high powered 1.4L variants by underpowered
1.2L vehicles introduced in early 2010 to take advantage of a government
excise concession of 16% on vehicles which have an engine capacity of
1.2L or less.
The Grande Punto, a product of a joint venture between Italian carmaker Fiat and Indian auto major Tata Motors,
has been around in the Indian markets since early 2009 and has had an
enviable international and domestic run having won ‘Car of the Year’
awards in several parts of the world including India.
