TVS Apache RTR 180cc Bike 'Menace' to Hit Indian Roads Soon

TVS India is planning to launch their all-new Apache RTR 180cc bike for the Indian markets. The TVS Apache RTR 180cc bike is expected to be codenamed as the ‘Menace’ and will also load on the 180-cc engine that features a power rating of 17.3 PS beating the 223-cc Hero Honda Karizma, and also the Bajaj Pulsar 180cc.

TVS Apache RTR 180cc bike will be in the sporty look as of the 3rd generation TVS Apache RTR 160cc, 0-60 km/hour timings, and digital speedometer with top speed.

Design:
The bike will retain the basic lines of the current RTR, retaining the basic look of a naked sports bike. But with no front scoop this time. And for a good reason too, the front is now going to house a semi-full faring that will expose part of the engine and give it that naked bike look too.
The bike will have a digital speedometer with top speed, 0-60 timer, trips, and other extra functionality plus stunning looks.

Ride and Handling:
The current RTR handles like a charm with loads of feedback from both the front and rear end. TVS won’t make a mistake in the handling department, although the company is looking to keep the setup to a slightly sportier side. With front and rear disk brakes and a proposed mono-shock we have a new dream bike in development here.
Rumours are that TVS might be going overboard with the weight distribution and balancing and we might have a surprise exhaust this time.

The Company will take steps to obtain all necessary certifications required under law such as under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, before commencing sales of twin spark plug TVS-Flame.

TVS Motor Company unveiled two novel products - India's first auto-clutch motorcycle and an automatic scooter. Unveiling the new motorcycle and scooter, the company's Chairman, Mr. Venu Srinivasan asserted that these two products are set to transform the very definition of city commuter biking. TVS Jive - Auto Clutch Bike:
Christened TVS Jive, the new motorcycle is propelled by a 110 cc engine which features innovative T-Matic technology* (patent applied for) which features a rotary gear technology coupled with an automatic clutch. The bike's four speed engine delivers a solid four stroke performance with 8.1 Bhp @ 7500 rpm and a torque of 8.1 Nm @ 5500 rpm. TVS Jive's light weight at 110 Kgs makes it convenient to handle. New TVS Jive 110cc Bike Launched in India

TVS announced the launch of their "TVS Jive" bike for North India. TVS Jive comes with an auto-clutch. It is designed for customers who are not comfortable using clutch to change gears. New TVS Jive comes 110cc engine that delivers a four-stroke performance with 8.1 Bhp at 7500 rpm and comes with a torque of 8.1 nm at 5500 rpm.

The company said: "We will follow this launch by entering the market of Uttar Pradesh. Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh are very important markets for us. This new motorcycle will fuel our growth in North India. We expect to sell 15,000-20,000 units per month in these territories. We have sold 65,000 units this year. With this launch and aggressive marketing we expect to touch the 1-lakh figure by March 2011."

Technical Highlights of 2012 New TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS

Anti-lock Braking System technology is an integration of a HECU (Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit) and Independent Wheel Speed Sensors which help determine when a wheel is likely to get locked. When the brakes are applied hard, the wheel tends to lock. At this point, the HECU takes over instantaneously and modulates the brake pressure continuously to keep the Apache RTR 180 ABS in the most effective braking zone while ensuring precise maneuvers.

Sensors on the front and rear wheels independently monitor the speed of rotation at all times and can sense the risk of wheel lock whenever the brakes are applied. If the sensors communicate an impending wheel lock, the HECU modulates the braking pressure and prevents it, therefore reducing the risk of the rider losing control of his Apache. When the ignition is turned ‘ON’, the Apache RTR 180 ABS does an automatic self-check, which is indicated by the blinking of an LED on the console and the speed sensors monitor the wheel speed and send signals continuously to the HECU.

The Apache RTR ABS is also equipped with Rear Wheel Lift-off Protection (RLP) system which regulates deceleration when the bike is likely to lift off during emergency braking situations and takes over control, with no loss of stopping distance. With the RLP system continuously monitoring and controlling the braking, the bike gives the best stopping performance. The bike comes with an ‘ABS-Off’ switch, which disables the ABS technology, enabling the rider to showcase his capabilities on the Apache RTR, in controlled conditions. In an effort to enhance the ‘thrill of biking’ in the TVS Apache RTR 180, the company has fitted the bike with an all-new 3 phase Full DC lighting system and an efficient energy management system.

TVS Motor Company has launched its new 2012 Apache Series RTR with an all-new design and styling which has been incorporated in all its Apache models namely, the TVS Apache RTR 160, the TVS Apache RTR 180 and the TVS Apache RTR 180 with Antilock Brake System (ABS).

The new breed of TVS Apache RTRs adorn a very beastly and good looking daytime running LED lights which are placed side by side just above the headlight, a first for an Indian bike. The bike sports a digital console with new styling and race-inspired carbon fibre bits. The new nocturnal blue backlit display adds to the design element of the vehicle.

Power figures remain unchanged with the TVS Apache RTR 160 dishing out 15.2PS of power and the RTR 180 churning out 17.03PS. The new RTR 160 is available in four dual-tone colours namely green, red, yellow and grey with black as the base colour. The refreshed RTR 180, too, is available in four colours – white, yellow, grey and black. The ABS version, though, is available only in white and black.

NEW TVS APACHE 2012 LATEST MODEL LUNCHED

This is the 2012 TVS Apache RTR 180. Unfortunately, this is only a facelift and there are no mechanical upgrades to talk about, and this new design will be worn by all the three RTRs, the 160, the 180 ABS and this, the 180. Changes have been made to the front fairing, body panels and switchgear. The bikini fairing upfront now looks larger, is more rounded, and from several angles reminds us of the current generation Pulsar 150/180’s fairing. The new parking lights look nice though, and look like the LED strip seen on the headlights of most Audis. Body panels have been updated too, and are now edgier. The dash gets a carbon fibre look, while the switchgear gets minor updates. Mechanically, the motorcycle remains unchanged though. Interestingly, the Apache RTR 160 EFi is not on sale anymore, is what we are informed.

TVS to come out with new automatic transmission

TVS Motor company have come up with a new technology which will employ an automatic transmission in their future line-up of two wheelers. TVS claims that this transmission will also give 20 per cent more fuel economy than the others in its class.
This new technology termed as ‘TVS Automatic Transmission” has an automatic transmission in place of the conventional CVT which changes gears through the electronic control module, automatically selecting the ratios for a particular riding condition. This overrides the requirement of a clutch and at the same time claims to maximize the engine performance for better efficiency. The prime objective behind this technology development is to enable a compact engine layout which can be used across various product forms like step-thrus, motorcycles and scooters.
Explaining the need for this technology, president of the new product development in TVS, Harne Chandrakant said, “We have developed this technology on a highly innovative vehicle layout with compact packaging and light weight construction presently with a 110cc 4-stroke engine with two independent, high precision actuators for the clutch and gear shift operations, mounted directly on the engine itself. The improvement in engine efficiency is derived through friction reduction and multi map electronic ignition control, while transmission efficiency is boosted through the new TVS Automatic Transmission technology."

TVS to launch four products in 2012

TVS Motor Company will be launching four new products in the fiscal year 2012-13, including two scooters and two motorcycles in the executive segment. The TVS Qube, shown at the Auto Expo 2012 will initially be test marketed before it is launched in 2013.
The new motorcycle which will be launched in June 2012 will have a 4-speed gearbox mated to an 125cc engine. The second bike which will be launched in December 2012, will be on the lines of Victor brand. The new Victor will have an advanced programmed ignition system. TVS claims that the new Victor will be more fuel efficient than before.
The TVS Qube is the company’s first hybrid scooter with an electric hub motor and 100cc 4-stroke engine. Depending on his/her requirement, the rider can select a mode. As is the norm with hybrid powertrains, the brakes, when applied, charge the Lithium-ion battery. Additionally, when the scooter is at signals, or standstill, it conserves energy by halting the power source.  The Qube can also be used with just an electric option for short trips. It comes with hybrid economy and hybrid power modes. In the former, the electric motor and engine run as per the programmed strategy while in power mode, both work in tandem.
The second TVS scooter will compete with Suzuki’s Swish in the 125cc segment and will be launched in December 2012.

TVS launches the 2012 Star City edition

TVS launched its 2012 edition of the Star City. The new Star City has dual tone body colours with six new colour combinations and a new headlamp design. TVS has also added clear lens indicators to the package. Available with a five-year warranty, TVS has priced the base version of Star City at Rs 38,650 ex-showroom Delhi.
The Star City’s 110cc engine has continuous variable timing ignition (CVTi) which enables it to achieve an ARAI certified mileage of 83.9kmpl. TVS has also kitted the bike with an econometer which helps the rider to ride in the correct economy zone. TVS Motor Company’s president–marketing, H S Goindi at the launch said, “This new motorcycle is a winning combination of executive class features and vibrant styling. The backing of high fuel efficiency and toughness will make TVS StaR City a much sought after motorcycle.”

The ABS variant of the RTR 180 is available only in white and black. All these bikes are on sale now at TVS dealerships across the country. TVS Flame SR 125 Launched in India

TVS Motor Company announced the availability of its 2009 Flame model in the market under the brand TVS Flame SR 125. The new commuter motorcycle is loaded with a host of exciting features that has been further enhanced to delight its customers.

According to H S Goindi, President Marketing - TVS Motor Company, "The TVS Flame SR125 comes with significantly enhanced low and mid range power delivery and better noise, vibration and handling (NVH) characteristics. The revolutionary Controlled Combustion Variable Timing Intelligent (CC-VTi) technology provides an advantageous combination of power and mileage backed by stunning looks."

TVS Flame SR 125's well proven engine is propelled by a three valve, CC-VTi technology which ensures better pickup with optimum mileage and power. Developed with AVL Austria, this 125 cc, three valve engine is tuned to the ideal tumble-swirl port combination such that city riding on this machine is really smooth and comfortable. The engine's hi-tumble reduces the need for constant gear shifting while the swirl port returns optimum mileage. The TVS Flame SR 125 is equipped with an electric start, weighs about 123 kgs and fires a single spark plug. The bike has a top speed at 95 kmph and churns out 10.5 bhp @ 7500 rpm.

TVS Flame Re-Launched With Twin Spark Plug

TVS re-launched the much awaited Twin Spark Plug "FLAME" bike after obtaining all necessary permissions and clearances in accordance with law.

This executive segment motorcycle, launched under the brand TVS Flame DS 125, is propelled by three valve CC-VTi technology, fired by twin spark plugs. Developed with AVL Austria, this 125 cc three valve engine is tuned to the ideal swirl-tumble port combination so that it delivers superior performance while simultaneously enhancing low, mid range power and delivering high fuel efficiency.

The additional power and mileage is achieved by two separate intake ports namely swirl and tumble ports. The swirl port creates swirl motion of air-fuel mixture in the combustion chamber. This swirl motion helps in efficient combustion of lean air-fuel mixture, thus giving maximum fuel economy in its class. The tumble port provides the high flow rate, which aids delivery of high power.

TVS Flame DS 125 is the only motorcycle in the country to have a unique combination of three valves and two spark plugs.

TVS Motors to Launch Hybrid TVS Scooty in India Soon

TVS Motors is geared up to roll out the hybrid variant of its most popular scooter - TVS Scooty. TVS Motors is India's second largest two-wheeler company and it showcased its hybrid variant at the Delhi Auto Expo 2010. At the Auto Expo in New Delhi, a company official said, "The Company also plans to have a plug-in hybrid of the two-wheeler." The new hybrid model is expected in the Indian market by end of this year.

As per the Financial Express news, the brand new TVS Scooty will have a four-stroke engine and electric hub-motor which will be a parallel hybrid system and both modes will be available in the model. The hybrid TVS Scooty will cover 30 km on fully charged battery.

TVS Motors has stated that the hybrid model will have 30 percent less CO2 emission as well as 30 percent improved fuel efficiency. In hybrid mode, the scooter's range will be much better with the petrol engine and electric motor working together.

New TVS Wego Scooter to Hit Indian Roads Soon

TVS Wego is the latest entrant into the two wheeler segment. TVS Motors; one of the leading two wheeler manufacturers in India, is all set to launch the TVS Wego, a brand new unisex gearless scooter.
