TVS Motors is geared up to roll out the hybrid variant of its most popular scooter - TVS Scooty.
TVS Motors is India's second largest two-wheeler company and it
showcased its hybrid variant at the Delhi Auto Expo 2010. At the Auto
Expo in New Delhi, a company official said, "The Company also plans to
have a plug-in hybrid of the two-wheeler." The new hybrid model is
expected in the Indian market by end of this year.
As per the Financial Express news, the brand new TVS Scooty
will have a four-stroke engine and electric hub-motor which will be a
parallel hybrid system and both modes will be available in the model.
The hybrid TVS Scooty will cover 30 km on fully charged battery.
TVS Motors has stated that the hybrid model will have 30 percent less CO2 emission as well as 30 percent improved fuel efficiency. In hybrid mode, the scooter's range will be much better with the petrol engine and electric motor working together.
