Daimler AG’s Indian arm, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt Ltd
(DCIV) today showcased its full range of models ranging between 9 and 49
tonnes in Hyderabad. All these trucks will be introduced in the third
quarter of 2012, starting with the launch of three. The plan is to
launch 17 models over the next 20 months. The light, medium and heavy
duty range of commercial vehicles by BharatBenz will be manufactured at
its new plant at Oragadam, near Chennai, which boasts of an integrated
state of the art test track in its vicinity.
Speaking at the occasion, Marc Lliostella, the managing director and CEO of DICV said, “Today is a proud day for us at Daimler as we present the outcome of our hard work over the last years – the first range of BharatBenz trucks. With an overall investment of Rs 4,400 crore, it is one of the biggest Greenfield investments outside Europe that Daimler has ever made.”
