While the Skoda
Superb 1.8 TSI was always a brilliant car to begin with, SkodaAuto India
has just decided to make it even better with launch of a Manual
Transmission variant, adding to the company's existing portfolio of
brilliant engine and gearbox options.
We at ZigWheels have loved the new Skoda Superb
ever since its launch in India last year. Great space and features for
an unbeatable price combined with a fantastic driving experience has
reserved a special place for the car in our book. In fact, the Superb
was a shoe in for the ET ZigWheels Most-Fun-to-Drive Car of 2009 award.
While the V6-engined 4-wheel drive variant of the Superb took the top
honors, the 1.8 TSI variant also deserves special mention. It revs
almost like a motorcycle and combined with the delectable 7-speed DSG
twin-clutch gearbox, is an absolute hoot to drive as well. Now though,
driving enthusiasts will have even more reason to rejoice as SkodaAuto
India has just launched the Superb 1.8 TSI with an optional 6-speed
manual transmission.
The 6-speed manual gearbox not only promises an excellent driving
experience, but in combination with the brilliant TSI engine, greater
fuel efficiency as well. According to ARAI figures the manual
transmission Superb returns a petrol mileage of 13.14 kmpl in the Indian
Driving Cycle. This new Superb also features an 'Intelligent Gear
Change Indicator' which takes the driving conditions into consideration
and recommends the most suitable gear to the driver on the Multifunction
Display. Mr. Ashutosh Dixit, Sr. General Manager, Sales &
Marketing, SkodaAuto India who commented during the launch, "The
addition of the 1.8 TSI Manual Transmission to the current range will
offer a wider choice to our customers and also allow us to introduce our
newest technologies into the Indian market. We are confident that our
new addition will create more zeal and excitement for our customers."
