Maruti has launched the eagerly-awaited Ertiga MPV at an astonishing price. The base petrol Ertiga LXi starts at an ex-showroom price of just Rs 5.89 lakh in Delhi, going up to a maximum of Rs 8.54 lakh for the top-of-the-line ZDi diesel variant.
The Ertiga is available with a choice of two engines: the 90 PS 1.3-litre Multijet diesel and the new 95 PS 1.4-litre K14B petrol engine. Both versions come with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, but autojunction.in understands that an automatic variant could also be launched at a later date.
Speaking at the launch, Shinzo Nakanishi, Managing Director and CEO, MSIL said, “Ertiga is a major step forward for Maruti Suzuki. Many urban families in India are now looking for a vehicle that offers more space and flexibility than a sedan, without being bulky, bland and expensive like a Utility Vehicle. These families are currently having to compromise, and settle for a vehicle which does not meet their lifestyle needs. The Ertiga is designed for these customers. It is another example of our ability to pack power, performance, space and features in a compact package.”
The new Ertiga has been engineered in Japan, but will be built in India. India is the launch country for Maruti’s new “Life Utility Vehicle” or LUV, as the company likes to call it. Subsequently, the Ertiga will also be exported to other countries in Asia, beginning with Indonesia, probably as early as June.
The ex-showroom prices, Delhi, for the new Maruti Ertiga are as follows:
Variant Price Variant Price
Ertiga LXi 5.89 Ertiga LDi 7.30
Ertiga VXi 6.60 Ertiga VDi 7.90
Ertiga ZXi 7.30 Ertiga ZDi 8.54
