A new four
cylinder engine, LED lighting strips, dashes of chrome, sculpted leather
trims and re-designed wheels all come together to make the new XF, XFR
and XK models look and feel ever more dynamic and aggressive
Premium sedans and coupe alike models from car manufacturers globally
are getting some brilliant facelifts and engine upgrades, which in a
way marks their rejuvenated appeal for the 21st century. While, some
subtle styling like daytime LED lighting strips and chrome moldings are
becoming standard, the overall look and appeal of these cars is also
taking a serious upper quotient.
The 2012 Jaguar Series
is all that and much more as seen in the new XF, XFR and XK models
presented by the British luxury sports car maker for the very first time
at this years New York International Motor Show.

First up is the new 2012 XF compact saloon that comes with fresh styling, advanced new technologies and an innovative entry-level four cylinder engine that shows a lot of promise on this stunning looking new XF model.

The front end of the new XF with its slim new headlight units and distinctive LED lighting strips is the first thing that ought to catch your attention. Setting it visually apart from the rounded twin cluster headlamp design of the previous model, the new XF now looks more distinctive and stylish. The lower bumper section also gets bit of unique styling with a trio of airdams, the outside pair of which are now intersected by twisted chrome fins.
While the rear of the car has been redesigned with LED technology the
interior of the XF now gets a redesigned seats, a restyled steering
wheel and an all-new colour central and dial-mounted screens relaying
reprogrammed navigation and entertainment software.
The 2.2-litre common rail diesel unit coming into the XF belly for the very first time develops 190 PS and 332 lbs ft of torque and is linked to a new eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox. An innovative Stop-Start system in the new XF model gives it a proposed economy in excess of 50 mpg and CO2 emissions of 149 g/km.
While the four cylinder powerplant is a nice addition to the XF line-up, the 3.0-litre V6 diesel engines continue its duty on the car and deliver similar performance figures as it did in the older model. The new XF will go on sale in September in the UK with prices starting at £30,950 (22,76,146.9 INR) for the 2.2-litre diesel engine.

Like the XF, the supercharged version of the same family, the XFR model also takes a step forward in the design department with a trio of deep airdams dominating the front of the car. A set of cooling vents set into the bonnet remains the trademark look on the new XFR. Redesigned 20-inch wheels and new lights for the rear makes the new XFR a treat for the visual senses.

With similar engine configurations as the XF model (excluding the 2,2 litre V4 option) the new XF and XFR range will feature new sound deadening material featuring as well as redesigned wing mirrors to reduce wind noise. The new XFR will sell post September this year starting in the UK for £65,350 (48,06,016 INR).

The quintessential sports coupe of the modern era, the new 2012 XK range has evolved to take on an elegant new look, elements of which are shared with the XKR-S unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

All-new slimmer (by 15mm) headlights alongside intricately styled reflector units; a larger oval grille framed in chrome with mesh in the centre that gives the new XK an elegant new look that is complimented with the overall black treatment on the car. Like all supercharged versions the XKR model will feature small air scoops on either side of the bonnet for feeding air to the brakes.
At the rear of the car new taillights using LED technology sit on either side of a thinner chrome strip. Sculpted leather sports seats debut for the first time on the inside. As with the outgoing range, the new XK and XKR will both be available in convertible form, while the new XKR-S coupé sits at the top of the range.All models go on sale in the UK in September.
