The new M-Class
Grand Edition is now priced far more competitively and will be available
in two attractive variants - Grand Sports & Grand Executive for the
Indian market.
When Mercedes launched the new M-Class in India in 2009, it was
oozing style and so far has done well in the Indian market thanks to its
compelling performance both on and off the road. With its popularity
and acceptance garnered over the years, the new M-Class has registered a
24% growth in the mid-size luxury SUV segment in India.
So, after an array of some scintillating launches across all segments in India this year, Mercedes Benz has now completed full-circle with the launch of a far more aggressive version of its M-Class offering in India.
The New M-Class Grand Edition is a step further in all directions as
compared to its more frugal predecessor. Stylish to begin with the new
special edition M-Class now has even more distinctive characteristics,
and looks sportier than before. Newly designed darkened headlamps and
LED daytime driving lights are some of the exterior add-ons that will
give the new M-Class's demeanour a bolder and more stylish look.
On the inside are some standard high-grade materials, which clothe
the luxurious interiors of the new M-Class Grand Edition. Worthy of
mention are a new two-tone colour scheme, an eye-catching AMG sports
steering wheel and for those seeking that personal touch in their cars,
an impressive Grand Edition badge on the central console should please
you just fine.
On the technology front, the M-Class Grand Edition is a complete
thumbs up with features like permanent four-wheel drive, 44ETS traction
systems, Downhill Speed Regulation, AIRMATIC suspension and Adaptive
Damping System (ADS), all of which come together to make the M-Class GE
one of the safest softroaders from the Merc in India. Additionally the
M-Class Grand Edition will also feature heated seats, Parktronic &
Neck-Pro luxury head restraints as standard.
However, what makes the M-Class GE really special is its new
aggressive pricing. The Sport Edition is priced at Rs. 54.11 Lakhs,
while the Executive Edition is priced at Rs. 47.91 lakhs Ex-showroom
Pune. This is a major slash in pricing by Mercedes, considering the
older versions of the M-Class (ML 350, ML320 CDI) were priced between Rs
56 – 64 lakhs (Ex-Showroom Delhi). Commenting on this bold pricing move
by Mercedes for the new M-Class Grand Edition, Dr. Wilfried Aulbur,
Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India
said, "The M-Class has been a popular model series in India. The
"Sports Edition" and the “Executive Edition” are very aggressively
priced considering the loadings and features of this marquee. We are
confident that customers who expect highest standards from their
vehicles will find the M-Class a vehicle that exceeds their
expectations- both on and off the road."
With some much-needed fine tuning both in terms of technology and its
overall look, the new M-Class Grand Edition looks good to both stay on
the road and confidently stray off it.
