Fiat Grande Punto Hatchback Unveils At Frankfurt Motor Show With Two New Engines

Fiat Grande Punto
The saucy little Fiat Grande Punto has decided to get itself a makeover and along with that two new engine even as it heads to the Frankfurt Motor Show to show it all off. The Italians for sure know a thing or two about making an already gorgeous looking even more appealing. The Fiat Grande Punto was already a sexy set of wheels to begin with. Now, Fiat’s designers have given the car a brand new grille and new headlamps along with turn indicators that now have their own place under the headlamps, a major departure from the usual headlamp integrated ones.
The front bumper gets some more sculpting while the 15 incher wheels get terrific looking alloy rims with no less than fourteen spokes. The rear too sees some changes with the tail lamps getting a brand new design. The Punto logo now gets plastered onto the middle of the hatch door, which itself looks to be redesigned. The redesign is carried on to the bumper of the car along with the reverse lamp getting a new shape. In a nutshell, hot has just got hotter.

The makeover isn’t just skin deep though. The highly acclaimed 1.3 liter FIAT Multijet diesel engine now breathes better through some tweaking to the turbo charger to bump up peak power from 75 to 85 Bhp. The 1.3 Liter engine uses a host of fuel saving technologies like a variable oil pump and an intelligent alternator to further boost fuel economy to a stupendous 28 KMPL. Of course, this stellar fuel economy figure being in Europe means that it will be a few kilometers lower in Indian conditions.

Coming to the other new engine Fiat’s path breaking MultiAir petrol engine technology finds its way onto the facelifted Punto’s engine bay. The 900cc twin cylinder turbopetrol engine is good for 85 Bhp of peak power and a very torquey 145 Nm of peak twist. This engine will be mated to a six speed manual gearbox. With all of this and then some more, the new Fiat Grand Punto is expected to make quite a splash at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show.
