Volkswagen has
launched the all-new Passat starting at Rs 22.80 lakh laden with great
style and packed to the hilt with BlueMotion Technologies.
After three years of selling the Passat in India, Volkswagen has
now launched the latest version of the car in India. With completely
revised styling and a thorough once over of its equipments list, the new
Passat promises to be even more bang for your buck than the old one
ever was. The outgoing car was always a treat to drive and came
complimentary with loads of style, exclusivity, space and power.
Building on those characteristics, the new Passat also debuts BlueMotion
Technologies in India which will steadily find its way to other
Volkswagen products in the future. BlueMotion is what the German
automaker is calling all the gadgets and wizardry in their cars that
helps increase fuel efficiency and decrease emissions but at the same
time keeps driving pleasure intact. The new Passat will be powered by a 2
litre CR TDI engine that puts out 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque
that peaks pretty low in the rev range. Adding to that is the automatic
Start-Stop system which switches off the engine automatically when the
car is stopped at a traffic light and switches it on again seemlesly
when the throttle is depressed. The oil burner is mated to a 6 speed DSG
gearbox and the car also features Brake Energy Recuperation that
recovers and recycles the energy normally lost under braking.
That apart, the new Passat will also feature some innovative firsts
for its segment including Park Assist that basically steers the car into
a parallel or perpendicular parking stop for you while you simply
control the accelerator and brake functions. Attention Assist is another
such feature which will detect driver fatigue and warn the driver to
take a break from driving. There is also climate controlled seats with
active ventilation and massage functions as well as acoustic sound
lamination for the front and rear windscreens to keep the rest of the
World out! Apart from these innovations the equipments list is long and
exhaustive and includes everything from a projector headlamps, LED
daytime running lights, touchscreen music system, Bluetooth and
electrically adjustable seats to ABS, ESP, loads of airbags and
anti-theft protection. Undoubtedly though, the best part about the new
Passat has to be its price with the range starting Trendline variant
tagged at Rs 22.80 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Comfortline variant for
Rs 23.80 lakh and the range-topping Highline for Rs 25.65 lakh.
Bookings for the Passat have already begun so make your way straight to a
Volkswagen showroom near you and take a closer look at the car that
should have the Honda Accord very worried!
