The Ferrari-engined STR7, Sauber’s F1 car was unveiled at Jerez in
Spain. The STR7 is the third car to be designed, produced and assembled
entirely by the Toro Rosso team and gets several distinctive features
such as paddock lock, undercut sidepods, relocated exhaust exits and the
now infamous stepped nose. The car’s brakes and drag reduction system
(DRS) have also been reworked.
The STR7 will be seen at the track today for pre-season testing with Australian Daniel Ricciardo and Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne. Toro Rosso hopes that the STR7 will help them get a podium finish, after they finished eighth in the 2011 standings.
