Unconfirmed reports have come in that the Toyota Corolla
has gone for a facelift. Sources revealed that the new Toyota Corolla
Altis has been spotted in Bangalore with all new exteriors. The new
Altis was originally slated for a release this month but following the
devastation due to earthquake and tsunami in Japan Toyota fell short of
parts and had to delay the release. However, as per recent reports from
Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd. (TKM), the company hopes to bring
things back on track much before than expected.
Apart from new design for bumpers, lights and all new alloys, new front fog lamps, Toyota plans a total transmission upgrade and complete facelift for the Toyota Corolla Altis. The new Toyota Corolla Altis hopes to feature a 7-speed automatic transmission rather than the existing 4-speed automatic transmission with super electronic-controlled transmission (ECT). The new Toyota Corolla Altis will be available in seven variants of petrol and diesel engines as well as the CNG variant may also come up. The new Toyota Corola Altis price is expected to be between Rs11 to Rs16 lakhs.
The present Toyota Corolla Altis is available in 1.8L petrol, D4DJ petrol, Altis G petrol and Altis GL petrol versions. Compared to its petrol counterparts, the diesel variants are claimed to deliver a mileage of 21.4kmpl. In July 2010, the company launched the diesel version of the luxury sedan with variants named D4DJ, D4DG and D4DGL priced in the range of Rs10.95 lacs to Rs13.75 lacs (ex-showroom New Delhi).
